A translation agency splits jobs between freelancers across time zones, often with tight turnarounds. Source files, glossaries and reference material get emailed to each translator separately, and queries about terminology go back and forth without the project manager seeing them.

How translation agencies set up Tandem App

  1. Open a channel per client account, such as #client-kestrel-engineering, with a task for each job: "User manual DE to EN", "Website FR update".
  2. Store source files, delivered translations and the client glossary in Docs folders per job.
  3. Translators ask terminology questions in a thread on the job task's announcement message, and use "also send to channel" when the answer affects everyone.
  4. Set due dates in the translator's working day and use scheduled messages to send instructions so they arrive at the start of it.

Clients and outside people

Freelance translators join only the channels for clients they work on, as Full access guests with an end date per project. Client contacts can join as Read only guests to collect finished files.

What it costs

Tandem App is free for up to 3 users. Paid plans are charged per user (owners, admins and members) from $1.99 a month, and guests are free: 5 for every paid user. Every feature is on every plan. See pricing.
