An accounting practice spends much of the year chasing clients for receipts, bank statements and answers to small questions, then working against fixed filing dates. When requests go by email and the status sits in one person's head, work bunches up before each deadline.
How accounting firms set up Tandem App
- Create a private channel per client, such as #client-smith-ltd, and an internal #smith-ltd-working channel for review notes between preparer and partner.
- Put each engagement on the task board: "Year-end accounts", "VAT return Q2", "Payroll year-end", with due dates set well before the filing date and an urgent priority in the final week.
- In Docs, keep folders per year with sub-folders for bank statements, invoices and draft accounts, so the client uploads straight into the right place.
- Use reminders such as "next week" on any message where you are waiting for a client document, so nothing is forgotten.
Clients and outside people
The client's director or bookkeeper is a Chat only guest in their own channel, so they can upload files and answer questions but cannot edit the firm's tasks. No end date is needed for ongoing clients; remove access when an engagement ends.
What it costs
Tandem App is free for up to 3 users. Paid plans are charged per user (owners, admins and members) from $1.99 a month, and guests are free: 5 for every paid user. Every feature is on every plan. See pricing.
