Your workspace's name, address and logo are what your team and guests see every day: in the sidebar, on the sign-in page and in every link. Owners and admins can change all three from Workspace settings in Tandem App. This guide explains each setting and what happens when you change it.
Finding the settings
- Click Admin dashboard in the sidebar. You'll need two-step sign-in switched on.
- Open the Workspace settings tab.
Changing the name
Under Workspace name, type the new name and click Save. The name is shown to everyone in the workspace and in emails such as invitations. Changing it doesn't affect the address.
Changing the address
Your workspace lives at its own address, such as your-company.thetandem.app. To change the first part:
- Under Workspace address, type the new address in New address. It can be 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, starting with a letter.
- Click Change address and confirm.
What happens next:
- You're taken to the new address, already signed in. Everyone else signs in again there.
- The old address keeps working as a forward. Links and bookmarks to it are sent on to the new one, and incoming webhooks posting to it still arrive.
- No other workspace can ever take your old address, and you can switch back to it later if you want.
- To prevent mistakes and misuse, the address can be changed up to 5 times an hour.
Some addresses are reserved and can't be used, such as words the service may need for itself. If the one you want is taken or reserved, you'll be told.
If your workspace uses its own domain rather than a thetandem.app address, this section says so, and you'll need to contact us to change it.
Things to update after an address change
- Let your team and guests know the new address, so they sign in there.
- Scripts using the REST API should use the new address. See using the REST API.
Adding a logo
Your logo is shown at the top of the sidebar and on your workspace's sign-in page, so people know they're in the right place.
- Under Logo, choose an image file. JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF are accepted, up to 2 MB.
- Click Upload. The preview shows how it will look.
A square or wide logo works best. To go back to no logo, click Remove.
Other settings on the same page
Owners also see three more sections at the bottom of Workspace settings:
- Import from Slack — see moving from Slack.
- Export your data — see exporting your data.
- Close this workspace — signs everyone out and deletes everything 14 days later. You confirm by typing the workspace's name and your password. Until the 14 days are up it can be restored on request.
Admins can change the name, address and logo, but importing, exporting and closing are for owners only.
